New Jersey commercial tax preparers are invited to the Tax Practitioner Institute sponsored by the New Jersey Association of Public Accountants (NJAPA), Internal Revenue Service, the New Jersey Division of Taxation, and cooperating colleges/universities. It is geared toward the intermediate and advanced tax preparer and no pre-requisite is required.

To avoid the webinar fatigue, instead of an eight-hour session the presentation will be broken down into two four (4) hour sessions. Each session will consist of three hours of Federal topics and one hour of NJ State topics. The Presentation will begin at 9 am and end at 1 pm.

The materials and evaluation will be available online before the webinar.

The topics to be presented by Internal Revenue Service speaker Glenn Gizzi are as follows:

  • Update on the current Economic Impact Payments to taxpayers and how to handle on the 2021 tax return
  • Update on tax law changes impacting taxpayers for the 2022 filing season comparing the federal and local taxing systems
  • Discussion on the Taxpayer First Act and its impact on taxpayers and practitioners
  • Presentation on the CARES Act and it current and forthcoming implications on tax professionals and taxpayers
  • Cybersecurity awareness for everyone, current tax scams, recommended security procedures to take
  • Payment and filing system options for federal and local tax returns in case of a future pandemic or shutdown

The topics to be presented by State of New Jersey Division of Taxation speaker Christina Quinones are as follows:

  • New Jersey Tax Updates
  • Recent Tax Law Changes
  • New Jersey Property Relief and more

2021 seminar is virtual. Four (4) CPE credits will be issued in Taxation and four (4) CE for EA's and those in the Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP), to those who complete the session. The pre-registration fee for commercial tax preparers is $90 ($35 for full time Students, ID required, no certificate issued). Payments must be received no later than one week before the scheduled seminar. There will be no refunds.

Glenn J. Gizzi

Glenn has worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 30 years. He began in Taxpayer Service in 1989 as a Taxpayer Service Specialist until becoming a Revenue Agent in 1994. During his 11 years as an Agent, Glenn worked in the Examination Problem Resolution Unit as a caseworker, a cooperating Agent for Criminal Investigations and was a Taxpayer Advocate at the model walk-in office in Edison. Glenn is also a certified instructor for the IRS and has spent 4 years training the new incoming Revenue Agents from 2001 to 2005. Additionally, Glenn worked in the former Taxpayer Education & Communication division during its standup in 2001 before it was realigned into the Communications, Liaison and Disclosure division which is now Communication & Stakeholder Outreach. His current assignments include the Annual Federal State Tax Workshop, North & South Jersey Working Together and American Payroll Association. Glenn is a graduate of Rutgers College, Rutgers University with a degree in Anthropology and is a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician for over 22 years. Christina Quinones

Christina started with the Division in 2007 in the Customer Service Call Center. During her 8 years in the Division’s Customer Service center she gained a vast knowledge of all taxes and programs administered by the Division. Prior to joining Taxation University Tina was a Practitioner Hotline agent. She provided expert assistance to the tax professional and business community. Tina’s tax knowledge and customer service experience is a strong asset to the Taxation University Team. Tina is a loving mother of three and an avid baker.
